"Charismatically gifted... his voice is remarkably expressive... Jordan's musical ability is often stunning." - Bernard Baur, Music Connection Magazine; "He's a pro, he can just do *anything*."- Vanessa Carlton on MTV "Duets"; "A welcome addition to the family of piano songsters."- John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting. “Think of Mayer and Mraz with the jaw-dropping piano skills of Ben Folds, and you just might get an idea of this 21 year old wonder.” - Steven Stewart, Independent A & R, Helsinki, Finland
Drawing upon influences as diverse as the Beatles, Brian Wilson, Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Steely Dan and many others, keyboard player, singer and songwriter Matthew Jordan has woven a sound and style that's uniquely his own. Matthew regularly floors jaded audiences who never expect one who looks so young to possess such enormous "chops," as they say in the biz. His talent hits 'em like a diesel truck goin' ninety.
In 2002, Matt joined Tonos.com, the online music community founded by Grammy winners David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager and Babyface. Within just a few months, he had placed in the finals or semi-finals of NINE competitive opportunities including "BEST ROCK KEYBOARDIST" and "BEST AAA SINGER/SONGWRITER."
In May 2003, Matthew was featured on MTV "Duets", making the final four (out of over 500 singer-keyboardists Nation-wide) to find a duet partner for Vanessa Carlton. During the show, he performed his own song "Close", making him one of the rare unsigned artists ever to get exposure on MTV. In December 2003, Matthew was cast as a young pianist in the Five For Fighting video "100 Years," the main role besides that of lead singer, John Ondrasik. In heavy rotation on VH1 and MTV, the video has increased Matt's fanbase exponentially, as many have tracked him down via his website, written fan letters and come to his jam-packed shows at the Hotel Cafe and other LA venues.
The last twelve months have seen him expand his schedule to include concerts in Phoenix (as well as a featured guest spot on KPNX Channel 12 "Arizona Midday"), St. Louis, and multiple gigs in San Diego, where he has a large and continually growing fanbase. His role models have broadened over the years, but his mission is still the same: to combine classic songwriting with totally modern grooves and rhythms, all wrapped up in insightful lyrics... with just a little banging on the keys thrown in for good measure
